Our Schools

The Math, Science & Technology Partnership believes in the consistency of the cluster paradigm. That is, children who begin kindergarten at a specific school will receive curriculum that is coordinated across all grade levels - from elementary school through high school.

Every cluster has specific needs for its community. This means that each cluster approaches developing, structuring and managing its work within the Partnership differently, to accomodate the needs of students within the community. A cluster's Action Plan outlines the approach to accomplishing its work within the Partnership based on activities, such as workshops for students Sandia High Schooland teachers, and equipment acquisitions to support MST curriculum.

The Sandia Cluster was the first K-12 cluster chosen by the Partnership in August 2001. The Sandia Cluster consists of 6 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 1 high school that serve nearly 7000 students in Albuquerque's northeast heights.

West Mesa High School

A year later, the West Mesa Cluster became the second K-12 program selected by the Partnership. All eleven schools in the West Mesa Cluster are actively participating in initiatives provided through the Math, Science, and Technology Grant. The cluster is in the implementation stages of a 5-year plan designed to increase professional development opportunities for teachers and create programs for students focused around the areas of math, science and technology. Different cluster initiatives include work with the NASA Space Center, on-line professional development (EveryDay Math) and events-based education (the JASON Project), as well as implementation of state-of-the art technology labs.
